Uk breeders of Weimaraner and Hungarian Vizsla
Copyright @2001-2011MrsRachelSavage

We have owned dogs all our lives. My name is Rachel and I am married to Darryl.  We have looked after all kinds of animals during our lifetime.  We have been married for 23 years. Having had dogs all our married lives.

I (Rachel) am the creator of this website, the Silvestre site.  I started designing websites in 2001. In fact back then hardly any dog websites were online, so it was a new idea to have a website on dogs.  Our website grew as I learned how to create them and do the artwork.  My website was the first Weimaraner website in Norfolk to go online.  We have lived in Norfolk all our lives, we are one of a select few that are established Norfolk breeders that have lived in Norfolk all our lives.  We acquired our affix in 2000 after a few years of breeding dogs first.  To see if we liked it before having an affix.  The dogs we bred that are 15 years old are now dying of old age and we are getting phone calls to tell us, such an such died.
We joined the Kennel club accredited breeder scheme now renamed the Kennel club assured breeder scheme to show our commitment to the breeding and welfare of good dogs.  We have shown our dogs and have produced dogs in the UK that have done working tests, dogs in Europe that have won field trials, and dogs in the UK that have gone into agility and claimed titles to silver award.  We have bred dogs that have gone into the UK show ring, qualified for Crufts, won many classes from puppy to adult, and a dog that has his own UK stud book number.  We have also brought in dogs which have gone onto get their kennel club stud book numbers. Our commitment to our dogs is that we show them a great lifestyle, and we take them out of the house on walks, holidays, days out, outings when we meet our puppy owners. Our dogs are given top veterinary care, and they are treated regular for worms, fleas, and given a good diet of raw food.

You can see how much we care about our dogs just by looking at the photographs.

We own show and breed Weimaraners and Hungarian Vizsla

We own as a pet a Pug.  We also own cats. Plus we have a pet chicken, on its lonely own due to foxes coming in and killing all its family.  I will be replacing our chickens in 2012.

We had our KC Advisor visit in December 2010.  This is to see how we look after our dogs, and to see the temperaments, health and safety of the dogs, where we exercise our dogs, do we show etc, do we meet local authority rules and regulations owning dogs, etc....We passed this with flying colours. :-)

Our view on breeding dogs. We are custodians of the breeds we own, there fore we should take great thought and care into their breeding.  I have had a vision for many years wanting to use imported dogs at stud so that I widened our own gene pool.  This we have now achieved through introduction of stud Weimaraners on our girls. Also with Hungarians also.  We keep a good open mind about breeding and we do talk to people all over the world.

Our first Hungarian Vizsla was not until 2006.  Miss Scarlett came into our lives.  We are still learning about this wonderful breed of dog. When asked why do you want two breeds of dog the answer is because we love all breeds of dogs, but the ones we own are our favourites for many reasons.  We can now say with the introduction of a pet pug we own three breeds. Although the pug is a pet at the moment.  Although it would be nice to show her too.

I breed British short hair pedigree cats and have quite a love and passion for them.  I love the most colour point cats, which are so friendly. But I also have blue cats in my cattery too. All our dogs are cat friendly and kitten friendly and so are the puppies we produce.

We have one grown up daughter of 19 and teenager son of 15 and we have a vast array of ages coming through our doors from babies, toddlers to the elderly.  All encouraged to handle puppies and help us socialize them.  Everyone tells us how wonderful our babies have settled into their homes, and this gives us great pride and joy.

Lots of people have got to know Rachel through face book, show exhibitors I have never seen before come up to me and say I know you because you are the lady with purple or red hair. Quite amusing I have to say. But my trademark is hair colour of bright colours.  Yes its me!  If you ever want to chat to me, just send me a message or email as I will always chat to someone.

So why breed? I love having puppies and sharing what we have learnt with other people and when a puppy goes into some ones home it is such a wonderful experience. Our job is to help that experience be the best it can be.  We also breed for showing and I do keep pups from time to time to carry on our breed lines, and I show them.  I get people say to me but we just want a pet, but the truth is you want a good looking pet, not a poor standard dog.  All our dogs are of excellent quality, coming from international top dogs. Very good looking dogs. We are proud to be able to say this.

Do we think we know it all? No is the answer as we believe we learn each and every day that goes by something new and I would never be so arrogant to think I know everything.  But I know that I have vast knowledge where dogs are concerned and it is through living with them, and also reading over years.  I would like to think you are buying a puppy from someone that could give you advise if you ever needed it.

"As I always say every breeder does it differently and I stand in no judgement how someone else does things, this is simply how we do it because over years of dealing with dogs and puppies we know what benefits them the most, and we do nothing that is detrimental to our dogs health and well being".

Please do not ring us up just to ask information about another breeder. We do not go around telling tales as we have too much in our lives to think about.  If we cant help you with a puppy we may know a good breeder who has a litter.  We will always tell you if our friends have a litter.  Or we will say look at the Kennel club assured puppy list, or Breed club puppy lists.

We also ask people not to go on our waiting lists if they are already on someone else's as we feel it messes us about and the other breeder.  We even still get some people that do this and still they do not tell us or the other breeder they have got a puppy off us or them. Its just plain bad manners.
