Uk breeders of Weimaraner and Hungarian Vizsla
Please be careful
Finding a reputable breeder in the UK can be hard work. So here are some top tips. Always see the litter with the mum. If you get the chance to visit the breeders premises before you put your deposit down do so. The premises should be clean, and not smell of urine. If dogs are kept in kennels go and take a look at the kennels to see they are clean and adequate. Do not buy a puppy from any pet shop, back of car, or at auctions. Ask to see parents relevant health tests with authentic paper work. Only buy Kennel club registered puppies which come from assured breeders. Just because their are papers available for the dog does not mean they are reputable breeders. You could buy yourself a lifetime of health problems if you do not choose wisely. A breeder should be a member of a breed club. Do not buy a puppy from Ireland shipped over in the back of a cars. Their are great Irish breeders but you would visit their homes, and bring the puppy back yourself. If someone offers to ship puppies it usually rings alarm bells of puppy farming. Its not just Ireland that has puppy farmers....Do not assume Ireland has bad breeders because we know some fantastic breeders. Their are puppy farmers all over the United Kingdom.
Some tips for good breeders versa bad breeders.
Backyard breeder> Motive for breeding is fun, and good for their kids, to make money for a holiday. Does not ask buyers questions and will still sell a puppy even if the buyer is unsuitable. No dedication to breed quality dogs, so long as the dog has four legs and same breed it will do. Does not do health tests on parents, could not care less attitude about what happens to puppy afterwards. Does not want to see parents sometimes, or will show you different dogs as parents because parents are in poor condition. No interest in giving you a guarantee on the health of the puppy. Does not strive to increase his knowledge on the breed, health problems, and construction. Has little knowledge on the breed history, back ground of the parents of his dogs unknown. Does not care about the future of the breed. Litter is not kept in clean environment. Does not legally dock puppies. Or fakes paper work if they do it. Does not give adequate veterinary care to the parents. No diet sheets given, no interest in the quality of food given to the pups. Often feeds adult food over puppy because its cheaper. Does not know the history of the pedigree, in some cases fake pedigrees given. Fake documents, or registered with another organisation which is not the Kennel club of Great Britain. Pup often is taken away from mother earlier than it should be, 5 weeks onwards. May boast in their adverts comes from long line of champions. This means nothing because they may have stolen the bitch, or they may have one champion in pedigree, and often they boast its come from top kennel in the country. Im afraid unless the puppy carries the affix of that said kennel it means nothing. Maybe unwilling to show you whole litter or where they are kept. Advertises in websites that are not dog orientated. Or in newspapers where all known poor backyard breeders advertise. Does not micro chip puppies and does everything as cheap as possible. Often leaves pups on mother until the pups ready to leave because its cheaper for them to suckle of mother than feed them dog food. Often has one or two pups left wanting a home still at 10 weeks. Does not worm because it costs money. Has many different breeds showing no interest in learning about those breeds. Most common puppy farmed puppies are Westies, Cavalier King Charles, Chi Chua pups, bulldogs, cocker spaniels some terrier breeds.
A good breeder> Will talk for hours about their own dogs, and the welfare of the breed. Shows or does something actively with in the dog community to show their love of dogs. Will ask you questions and think about you and if you should have a dog, often telling you to go away and think about it first. Not wanting just the money and goodbye. Will have clean home or premises. Will have all relevant health documents to show you as well as kennel club documents and show wins. Dogs will have adequate veterinary care, and diet sheets will be given and breeder will tell you why they feed the diet they do. Knows the history of the pedigree or knows the parents well, and often grandparents. Does not boast about the champions in the pedigree and often over looks this as the point of selling. Offers health guarantee. Has the want to learn more about the breed. Has invested long term into their dogs, with introductions of new breed lines and not blinded by having the same breed line for ever. Has knowledge of their own dogs. Belongs to a breed club, or maybe many. Knows when their own breeding has not worked as well as it should and endeavours to introduce new blood lines. Wants to know if you cant cope with dog that you would go back to them. Will offer to see you before their are puppies available. Will guide you into choosing the right puppy because of their knowledge on the puppies. Shows you the mother of the pups and father too if they have them. Does not have to put them out of the way because of bad temperaments and you see them behind glass. Does not have to advertise in news papers or known bad websites. Has their own website where you can see the dogs, and shows you their hobby through the website rather than a sales website. With pages of care of the dog included in it. If they can dock legally they do so with all relevant paper work to give you. Puppies micro chipped if docked or not. All breeders want to know their dogs have permanent identifiable marks such as tattoos or micro chips. weans puppies completely before pups are ready to go. Wont let pups go before 6 weeks. Preferably nearer 7 weeks. HPR are confident pups by 7 weeks. Toy breeds nearer 10 weeks. Toy breeds kept to 10 weeks are vaccinated too. HPR leaving by 7 weeks are not vaccinated. Breeders can have more than one breed but they specialize in them and learn all they can about that breed of dog. Does not have what's popular, but what they like.
